Review: Borghese Fango Active Mud Mask

I remember first reading about the Borghese Fango Active Mud Mask in a magazine back in high school and really wanting to try it, but not being able to afford it. Fast forward 6 years later, I saw this product while shopping in Taipei, and I knew immediately I had to buy it. Yay for having money now!

The Claim

Derived from traditional Tuscan treatments, its deep-down purifying power purges and minimizes pores. It exfoliates and helps surface cell turnover, imparting clarity. It hydrates and firms reducing fine lines and providing smooth, toned texture. Infused with Sweet Almond and Avocado Oils, this mud detoxifies and does away with dull skin, leaving skin radiant and refreshed.

Findings

I love using this mask once a week for some serious deep cleansing, and I swear I can feel it drawing out the oil and dirt off my skin as I apply it. Once I wash it off, my face is left feeling soft, clean, and glowing. The dryness and tightness is minimal to non-existent compared to other deep cleaning masks I’ve used in the past.

I love how the Borghese Fango Active Mud mask only takes about 5 minutes to work its magic, so no sitting around for 30+ minutes waiting for this to dry. As a matter of fact, you should wash the mask off before it dries completely, otherwise it can get a bit difficult to remove.

I have a love-hate relationship with the packaging though. While it is beautiful and well-made with thick glass rather than cheap plastic, it’s also heavy and will break if you drop it. The snap closure keeps it airtight, which means less oxidation and bacteria-breeding possibilities, but I also find it hard and a bit scary to open.

I can't find one thing I dislike about this mask! It works beautifully, and unlike other mud masks it doesn't sting or make my skin uncomfortable after use. I highly recommend the Borghese Fango Active Mud Mask for all skin types, especially those with oil or combination skin, or have large pores. Even if your skin is fine, it never hurts to deep clean it every once in a while :)

For those with sensitive skin, there's also a milder version "Fango Delicate". However I haven't tried the Fango Delicate and can't vouch for its effectiveness.
